Overview
 
The Integrated Poultry Business (IPB) is one of the many diversification of Godrej Agrovet. Like other markets in the Indian economy, Godrej envisioned that Indian poultry would evolve from a backyard business to a consolidated, value added business.
 
IPB established in 1999 has total integration in all areas of poultry management, such as breeding & hatchery, live bird selling, large-scale contract farming. It has a presence in all parts of the poultry business chain right from breeding grandparent stock, parent stock, day-old chicks and broilers, which are in turn processed or sold live to wholesalers, franchisee and retailers.
 
Godrej Real Good Chicken
 
In May 1999, Godrej Agrovet introduced the Indian consumer to the concept of processed fresh chicken by launching Godrej Real Good Chicken.
 

Real Good Chicken is made from international quality broiler chicken, processed and packed in a scientific hands free process and instantly chilled at 2 degrees Celsius. The instant chilling procedure retains the freshness of the chicken and keeps intact its natural vitamins. The product is made available to the customers the same day itself.
 
It offers the benefit of freshness, convenience of purchase and availability and provides tasty, healthy and hygienic chicken to its consumers. As part of innovative marketing techniques for Real Good Chicken the company has introduced the concept of the chicken franchisee and spearheaded the home delivery of chicken.
 
Quality
 
The chicken used in the making of Real Good Chicken comes from grandparent generation roosters imported from Cobb-Avian, a subsidiary of Tyson Foods, USA, the largest producer of chicken in the world. Godrej Agrovet is the sole franchisee of Cobb-Avian in India.
 
Currently GAVL has a processing plant in the South and a state of the art plant in the West at Taloja in the outskirts of Mumbai. The plant at Taloja is one of the best in the industry and has a total capacity of processing 2000 birds per hour. Godrej Agrovet is the first company in the country to receive HACCP and ISO 9001 certification for its processing plant. The plant is completely eco-friendly with an effluent treatment plant attached along with a rendering mill for processing poultry waste.
