Overview |

| In order to bridge the widening gap between demand and production for edible oils in India, Oil Palm Division was started in early 90's. Over the years, Godrej Agrovet has developed 6500 hectare of oil palm in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka. Oil mills have been setup in Andhra Pradesh, Goa. Oil Palm plantation activities have also been taken up in Gujarat, Orissa and Mizoram. |

| Godrej Agrovet has put together a dedicated extension team that helps oil palm growers improve productivity. It has also set up one-stop shops providing farmers with seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, technical guidance on cultivation and 100 % buyback of fresh fruit bunches. With such a strong commitment to development and service, It is no wonder that Godrej Agrovet is today, the largest producer of palm oil in the country. |

Introduction to Oil Palm |

| Oil Palm (Elaeis guineensis L.) is a native of West Africa ,cultivated as oil producing crop extensively in West Africa , Southeast Asia , and in south and central American countries. Oil palm yields about 3000-4000 Kg. Oil per hectare annually while coconut yields 1200-1500 Kg., ground nut 500-800 Kg, and Sunflower 600 per hectare annually. |
